Offerings
Written in Nature fosters participants’ native abilities, guided by the beauty and grace of the Canadian Rockies. Its offerings include private one-on-one lessons, weekly two-to-three-hour group sessions, small two-to-three-day women’s retreats, and customized group seminars throughout the year.
– Private One-on-One Lessons are for individuals desiring time tailored for instruction, tutoring or editorial work. Lessons may include creative projects (either fiction or non-fiction), research, technical, business or academic writing, or tutorials in English composition and grammar. These lessons maybe both in-person and on-line.
– Weekly Group Sessions are for groups of 3-6 individuals. Each group series will be customized to be interests and abilities of the groups.
– Customized Group Seminars can be arranged in advance for businesses, schools or other groups. Prices will be arranged in conjunction with the seminar and can be at the client’s choice of locations.
– Women’s Retreats cater to 2-5 individuals and, arranged in advance, run throughout the year. Similar to all Written in Nature ’s programs, these retreats will be customized to the individual groups with combinations of formal workshops and informal activities.
Retreats in Wasa, British Columbia
In Wasa, participants will stay at Crab-Apple Cottage, a modest property with a small guest cabin within walking distance of Wasa Lake and BC Provincial Parks. Activities in warm weather retreats may-but do not have to include readings, formal instruction, walks, bike rides, strolls on the beach, afternoons dozing on the sand and swims in the surprisingly warm waters of the lake followed by simple meals in the garden with as many local organic products as the season allows. In the colder seasons, informal time can include cross-country skiing and evenings by the fireplace.
* Two-night retreats (for instance, arriving on a Friday night and leaving Sunday afternoon) with all meals and simple accommodation included will be $375. Three-night sessions will be $450. These retreats are not limited to weekends.
Retreats in Bragg Creek, Alberta
In Bragg Creek, accommodation can be found for an additional charge at a number of nearby bed & breakfasts, some within walking distance. Formal instruction will be held in a small classroom in the old red barn at Flying Goose Farm. Baked products featuring the farm’s organic free range eggs are offered to stimulate creativity.
